Renflexis Remicade biosimular - 05/30/18 04:08 PM

My daughter's insurance company is making her switch from Remicade to the biosimular Renflexis. Had anyone had an experience with switching from Remi to the biosimular?

I have not but if your daughter is successful on Remicade I would protest the decision. It saves them $. They are watching just like you are for issues with the drug however unlike you they do not care about her. They just want to save money.

I agree with White Cell that you/she should protest the decision.

I have no experience with Renflexis.

This may help:

Celltrion produces the biosimilar to Remicade.

I agree that you should fight this decision. A "biosimilar" is really a different drug. It's not a generic form of the same drug. For that reason, many insurers, mine included, are not requiring patients currently on a biologic to switch once a biosimilar becomes available. They are instead requiring that patients who have never been on a biologic to try a biosimilar, if available, before starting the biologic it mimics. You have a good appeal.
