My brother was told when he filed for his Social Security Disability that he would have an answer in 4 months. It has now been 2 weeks over that date. Does that mean anything out of the ordinary? He is so stressed out going to the mailbox everyday. This is his first try and he does not have an attorney. I told him about you on this board. He says if he gets turned down, he would like to contact you. He is also struggling to get by not being able to work. Thanks for your answers on this board. They are very helpful.

Hi, Juanita. Thank you for your question. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, however, I just opened my own law practice and things have been a bit hectic getting it set up. I hope to be on a more regular schedule with answering questions on the board here. 4 months to wait for an answer at the initial or reconsideration level is often very typical. Of course, cases can take longer or shorter and that is not necessarily out of the ordinary.

I would be pleased to speak with your brother if he has any further questions. I can be reached at Rich@FeingoldLawOffices.com or by phone at 773.989.9899. I wish him the best of luck.

Rich

Mr. Feingold,

Thank you for your participation on this site. I am new here and thrilled to find all the support. May I ask...do you have AS? Incidentally, I have been lost in the SS mess for 4 yrs. and ended up bankrupt, homeless etc. I was once a highly paid Occupational Health Nurse. (R.N.) This system is deplorable. Suicide seems easier than SS. A friend in Australia cannot believe what I have gone through! He said there if this happens, you are on the "dole" "just like that!".In the midst of my wait, (1-2 yrs.), to see a judge after appeal turned down. I went through this the year before I applied this time. Saw the judge and still....denial.Unable to work for the past 4 yrs. Despite what the job specialist at the last hearing said about working as a parking lot attendant, not many employers want you when you are on narcotics daily, am over 50, over educated etc. On round the clock morphine! Good luck with your new practice and thanks for "listening".

Hi, Kristen. No, I don't have AS, but I do feel for my clients who do. Sorry to hear about the problems you've been having with your case. Thanks for your well wishes.
