In a bad mood? Don't worry - according to research, it's good for you.

An Australian psychology expert who has been studying emotions has found being grumpy makes us think more clearly.

In contrast to those annoying happy types, miserable people are better at decision-making and less gullible, his experiments showed.

LOL a friend once sent me an email, I don't remember the exact words but something like this "People should just accept that some days grumpy is the best I can be, they should be grateful I'm not homicidal"

There is irnoy here. The grumpier you are, the more clearly you see the world. Which leads to more grumpiness. Sounds like instant Karma to me.

I remember reading about a study 15+ years ago that was very interesting. They took depressed and non-depressed people. They had a living room set up with a lamp on an end table. The subjects entered the room and attempted to turn on the lamp. The testers actually controlled when the lamp was turned on and off. The results of the test were that the non-depressed people thought they were always in control of when the lamp was turned on or off. The depressed people knew when they caused the lamp to work and when they didn't. The conclusion being that depressed people are more in touch with reality. And maybe that is why they are depressed.

Which brings me to my favorite quote: Reality is stressful, for those who are in touch with it. \:\)
