I woke up today with horrible pain in my neck and limited mobility. I have tried a topical pain gel, heat and ultracentrifuge all with no relief 😞 I don't have a fever and I can bend my neck forward slightly. I am currently on Cimzia, Celebrex and imuran.

I would say visit this issue with your doctor due to the pain and new limits.Maybe you just slept "wrong" but it would be good to check.

I agree. I don't know your situation. but worth checking out. if someone has fusion or osteoporosis, then can be susceptible to fracture. there was an article last week from a person with AS that fell out of bed and ended up with a fracture. hopefully it's nothing, but need to know.

I spent my weekend with a pain in my neck causing limits mobility, I also walked around with that shoulder way higher than my other, made me look weird. In my case I was sleeping strange. Ice and ibuprofen helped and so did sleeping with a thin pillow. Have you tried ice yet? Hope your pain goes away soon

This happens often to me, as part of my symptoms; however, I would contact p.c. or rheumatologist; my son once had a bad stiff neck when he was ten, years ago, turned out the pediatrician said he had some kind of muscle infection. The same condition happened to an art professor of mine, and when he went to the doctor, as I shared my son's experience, he also was diagnosed and treated for a neck muscle infection. Go figure. This was about 18 years ago, I think the treatment was antibiotics, but I really forget. Then a few months later after the neck incident, my son had pain in his knees, but that was Lyme's. He is ok now, and no sign of AS yet, he is 28.

I've had significant neck pain due to A.S. and scoliosis for about 13 years now. A good chunk of that I treated w/ chiropractic care and ice packs/ and drugs. Recently I had 2 RFA (radio frequency ablation) done on cervical disks 2-6 both sides and have had radical relief. (although the healing time from that is difficult)... but post procedure has been good. I also take gabapetin for neuropathy / fibermyolgia and prescription NSAIDS, which also radically help.

Going to my local university pain clinic saved me. I was going crazy from the neck pain.

25 yr+ with significant and aggressive A.S.,fibromyalgia, and scoliosis. Currently on Cosentyx, advil, gabapetin, mobic, voltaren gel, tylenol, prednasone, low dose naltrexone.

What is ultracentrifuge? I only see something about sickle cell on internet.

I suspect ultracentrifuge is an auto-correct error. He probably meant ultrasound.

I think it's myositis in the muscles of the neck. Myositis can an be caused by a virus or an immune-mediated disease or by some medications.
