Most people do. That what AS is. Spine inflammation which brings on pain. I have pain everywhere in my body all day everyday. Despite celebrex and oxycodone and sulfasalazine

I bet the TNF you don't want to take would help with that. That's what it is created to do.

I need four medications to keep mine to a tolerable level - and on some days, its barely tolerable.

I took the tnf before but keep keep getting side effects.

Still in denial how one can get AS after a urethritis. Never happens..only 30 case in last 25 years.

Why would you not want to take a TNF? I don't know how anyone lives with this disease without the use of TNFs. They are a miracle and I still have to take other medicines to control pain but without the TNF life is miserable. I have resigned myself to the fact that a TNF may have bad side effects and shorten my life but I would rather have a shorter good quality life than a miserable long one. Also, the TNF helps stop the progression of the disease.

There is no evidence that tnf drugs shorten the lives of most people who take them. Sure, some people get life-threatening infections or cancer, but most (the overwhelming majority, in fact) of the people who take them don't develop those side effects. And, worldofme, have you ever read the side effects for NSAIDs, even over-the-counter ones like ibuprofen and naproxen, or prednisone? If those drugs had to go through the FDA approval process today and enumerate all their potential side effects during their television commercials like tnf drugs do, you wouldn't want to take them either.

Serious side effects from TNF inhibitors are very rare. You havea far greater chance of dying in a car accident than getting a serious complication from TNF inhibitors. Most serious side effects happen to the elderly taking these drugs. There is NO increased risk of lymphoma for AS patients taking TNF inhibitors according to clinical studies. But there is a very small risk for rheumatoid arthritis patients around 0.01%- 0.1% chance and they think the reason is because ther are more elderly women with Rhuematoid arthrtis. We need to put things into perspective. Deaths from serious infections because of TNF inhibitors are very low as well. I read that there has only been 200 deaths from infections in the past 19 years out of all the people who have taken them and the millions of precriptions given out. The vast majority of these deaths were elderly people. Some of those deaths were becuase of latent TB which is no checked for before starting therapy. Perspective

Those side effects are rare. 99.9% of people who take this do not get that. Do you not travel in cars? You have a better chance dying while traveling in a car than getting those side effects.

Great, now he is going to lock himself in his house forever.

worldofme may be a hypochondriac, and that would explain everything.

Kind of reminds me of my mother.

Imagine this as a plot twist.

He doesn't have AS. He stumbled across this site on google and convinced himself he has a disease, but in reality he is in excellent health, but goes crazy trying to cure a disease he doesn't have.

worldofme, you keep asking the same questions over and over and over again. Not just on this site but on others. We keep giving you the same answers because they are the only answers. You have a disease that is likely not going away. You need to find some way to deal with that psychologically because there are no miracle cures on the horizon. I strongly recommend that you see a professional for help. There are psychologists who specialize in working with chronic pain sufferers. Please see one.
