Seems like I have chronic urethritis that isn't going away with any abx so far and doc says oh well it might be immune system thing and rehum wants me to take TNF for spine.

Is this safe? I was wondering if anyone here is in same situation. I just don't want to take TNF and come down with rare infection and blame goes to TNF blocker which of course they would blame it on TNF anyway.

I have no other option for spine pain or to slow down the progression other than TNF. My back hurts along with every other joint in my body.

I have chronic upper utis. I'm colonized. My Rheumatologist took me off Humira indefinitely when my culture showed the bacteria wasn't fully sensitive to any oral antibiotics. I've since seen an immunologist and an infectious disease specialist. The infectious disease specialist told me there was no reason to be off my Humira and to only treat the UTI when it was symptomatic. I had high fever and flank pain and we treated the infection, but I would test my urine at home after the round of antibiotics and there would be no leukocytes or nitrites in my urine for about a week to 10 days. Then my urine would have both in it and I'd go back to the doctor and we treated again and again and we were just causing the bugs to keep mutating and will running a risk of having no antibiotic that would work. I went back on Humira about 2 or 3 months ago after taking about a year off. After three injections I woke up in the middle of the night with 105 fever. I live alone and I couldn't even drive myself to the ER. I thought about calling an ambulance to see if they would come with no lights or sirens, because I was not going to have an ambulance come to my house with lights and sirens in the middle of the night. But I took ibuprofen and tylenol to bring the temperature down and waited till morning and call my mom to take me to the ER. We were there about 10 hours while they gave me IV antibiotics and fluids. I also took Augmentin for 10 days and the infection got better. I again woke with 104 fever in the middle of the night with flank pain and had not gone back on Humira at that point. I've still not gone back on the Humira and had yet another infection, and right now I've ran a fever all day with pretty severe flank pain. Is seeing Saturday or Friday night is the best time for me to get a flare in my infections. I do have some Augmentin that I asked the doctor to give me four of them so if it's happened again on a weekend I could at least start the antibiotics until I could see a doctor on Monday. It is a pain to go to the ER for kidney infection plus it cost a fortune! They've given me a prescription of something to take twice a day, like, forever lol but I haven't started it yet. I was supposed to start it after I finish the antibiotics but I've only been off the antibiotics about 5 days and been in a massive flare and had such bad pain that I haven't even thought about taking something like that. Have they told you if you are colonized? Mine is E coli which is very common bacteria for a UTI

Diagnosed with AS December of 2011. Neck fused and ligaments calcified. Taking norco, soma, duragesic patch for pain. HLA-B27 positive. Probably Lupus, and Sjogrens. Raynaud's off Humira for now frown 6 months ...we'll see from then smile lovin" live with adderall!! Hehe and hormones hehe

Lol, they could never find specific bug but through special lab testing they have found gram positive, corneybacteria & staph epidermis.

I will be starting abx for gram positive - over the years have taken so many abx without much success.

My infection is hidden inside the prostate.
