I have discomfort behind my eyes (both of them equally) when moving them and some sensitivity to sunlight. This is new to me and may be nothing but does anyone else with AS know what it could be or if it's anything to worry about. I have no redness or eye trauma.

Thank you for any input.

Yes, see an ophthalmologist ASAP. Hopefully it's nothing serious, but there are a lot of things that can go wrong with your eyes. Redness only occurs if the issue is in the front portion of your eye.

Thank you both! I went to the ophthalmologist and found out I have inflammation in my orbital muscles. It still hurts a lot but she put me on steroid drops. I return to her on Monday to make sure the issue is resolving. I just wish I had a clue what caused it!

Confirm on Monday that the doctor has evaluated you for uveitis. The evaluation requires a special piece of equipment, a split lamp. There is also a drop that will relax the muscle, if you are still feeling pain in the eye. Good luck.

That should be slit lamp. Glad I'm not the only one that hits two keys at once. wink And I agree with your advice.

By the way I am still on sulfasalazine 3g per day and don’t have eye pains anymore, but in the recent days feel like my floaters increased in numbers and have morning flashes in the eye I didn’t have since couple of months. Could this be sign of intermediate uveitis, as I read with this kind not always pain but vitritis.
In any case how much floaters is enough? These are really annoying especially when eyeballing against lights.

You need to see an ophthalmologist ASAP. Please don't put it off. Flashes in the eye can be a sign of a tear or a detachment of the retina. An increase in floaters can be a sign of inflammation or bleeding. Please don't take any chances with your eyes. Preserving your vision is very important.
