Junebug how old is/was your daughter upon first symptoms? Does she have the AS diagnosis, forgive my memory loss right now, I can't remember is she was officially diagnosed or not. Was her first symptoms similar to my daughter, complaints of leg/knee pain?

I just want to say that the crew at Hospital for Special Surgery are the most compassionate, understanding, and intelligent doctors, nurses, phlebotomists, and on and on that I have ever been to. While Dr. Lehman's book is not unbiased, it is not meant to be. It is meant to make difficult choices easier and to help pediatric rheum patients whose diseases are often overlooked. FWIW, Dr. Lehman is not my MD, I saw someone else at HSS but I've read the book, and certainly gotten excellent, excellent care at HSS. When I aged out of their office/had to switch MDs because I was moving, I cried all the way home.
