I love the idea of sharing photos like JimV did with a short discription, any one else feel like it? Some people roll their eyes when the photo albums come out, but I am one of those people that love looking at other peoples pictures.
We have people on these boards living all over the world, places I will never get to in my lifetime, and I would love to see pictures of other places. Of course, it means I will have to figure out how to load a picture onto these boards, but that will be a new skill I can learn.
Who wants to go first?
Karen
My Photo\'s are easy to view!
I have three sub albums too. One for woodworking, Harley Davidson and the newest home improvement project that is just getting ready to go full swing.
I love playing around taking photos. I rarely go anywhere without a camera and one day maybe I'll get a "money shot". In the right place at the right time.
I am going to go out this week and take some photos of my little town. I will make them into a slideshow and put them on Photobucket. I will post the link here when I get it done.
Very cool......
Is that how you get pictures on here? You put them on photobucket and then move them over here? I kind of know how to do that, and my daughter can show me for sure.
Ken, cool bike shots!
Karen
Photobucket makes it real easy to transfer pictures to sites such as this. It will size your pictures so they will post on just about any forum.
Have some real nice custom bikes in my album KarenB. Some cost more than most of us make in a year!
Great Photo's Ken,
I am from Northwest Minn., not the end of the world, but I can see it from here...!
Cindy
Up in Gods country are ya!
(It's called Gods country because it's way too cold for the Devil!)
Ken,
That's spoken like a true Minnesotian...!
and to people in the Metro area, its outstate..! If it were Australia, it would be the outback..lol, but its beautiful country no matter what you call it...
Cindy
Whereabouts in Minnesota are you, cindyd?
Jim,
I am a little east of Grand Forks,North Dakota..thats a bigger town to find, then to have me explain where I am...its farm land, flat as far or farther then the eye can see...its in the Red River Valley of the North...the big crop, is sugar beets...which is a white beet, that is processed into table sugar...maybe thats more information then you wanted to know.!..lol
But like Ken said, its God's country...
Cindy
cindyd, I just like to look up places on Google Earth. You would be really surprised what you can see. It's my way of seeing places I'll never get to see.
Jim,
Guess I didn't realize that its possible to look with a search like that..! am not too good with puters...lol
So I looked up a few places I was at in Australia, while I was there, I picked up a road guide, and drew a line under all the places the I had been too, glad I did, cause those towns really have some different names, and wouldn't have remembered them...
Cindy
cindyb, just to show you what I mean about Google Earth, here is Grand Forks from 4km up. It can actually get in close enough to see individual houses.

It is really fun to play around with. I found my brothers house in Brisbane amongst millions of houses and I found a house in a back street in London.
Jim,
Its funny, that you brought up the google earth..it was on the national news last night, how some people are calling it intrusive??? suppose some wacko has used it for something unlawful and now google is getting a bad rap for it???
Don't see how that will change things tho...but do keep sending those neat photo's of the flowers.. that is one thing that amazed me when I was there..! Okay, one of the things...!
Cindy
cindy, my apologies if I was being invasive. I did not mean to be. I am not a stalker just interested in other places in the world.
I'll stick to flowers!
I haven't tried Google Earth. Do you have to download it? But in Google Maps you can zoom in. It is quite handy when trying to find something specific. For me, I am usually trying to find directions to a soccer field. I can zoom in, see the field and see exactly where I need to go to park. It is very, very handy.
Have you ever tried Zillow.com to look at your home? I can see my pool. One can look into everyones backyard. Although, you cannot zoom in close enough to see people.
Jim,
I didn't think you were being invasive..just thought it was funny, that it had just been on tv about google earth...so you just keep on looking at everything my friend...You should have seen Grand Forks in 97, the whole city was flooded..the Red River of the North goes thru it, it is one of two rivers in the world that flows north? the river was out of its banks then, plus there was over land flooding...the country is so flat, that it was flooded from 90 miles south, to the Canadian boarded plus some, then into Lake Winnipeg...so there is some history to go with it.
I didn't take any offense, so don't worry..
Cindy
OK, I think I have got it figured out. Here are two photos. I live in Brentwood, a rural (but fast growing) city in N. California, about an hour drive from San Francisco. The mountian in the background is Mt. Diablo.
Karen

Well, that didn't seem to work. Just takes you to photobucket. I will try to figure out how to get the pics over here. At least I figured out how to get them onto photobucket! That is a real good start for me!
Karen
Karen, for this forum use the bottom link on your pics on Photobucket (the one that starts IMG). Just click on it and it will copy then paste into the box here.
It's a good idea to resize your pics first. If you click on the "edit" button near your pic, it will give you options to resize to. The 640 x 480 is what I use.
Well, I am getting there......
Lets see if I can get the other picture on there now......
Good going Karen, the photo on the bottom is great.! you're getting the hang of it...Thanks for sharing...
Cindy
Hey Cindy! Thanks for the encouragement! I still don't know why they are coming through as pictures and not a link, but at least I think I have the hang of it. The top one looks much better on my computer. Maybe the sizing? I will continue to try, I hope more people will post pictures of their areas. My mom's people are from Minnesota, can you post some pics of your area?
Karen
Karen, Great Photos...What is growing? Is it corn and grapes?

Huntington Beach Pier (that is a Ruby's restaurant at the end)This is where the surf competitions are held.
just trying this out..double click the video..It is of Huntington Beach
Karen, I may have misunderstood what you wanted. The way I told you is for posting the actual picture here. If you just want to put a link here use the top one of the three addresses in Photobucket. Same deal, just click on the address for the pic and it will copy it then paste into reply box here.
You're doing ok, nice pics!
Hi guys,
I actually had some time and the inclination to get out and about today and took some pics of my little town with the new camera. If anyone is interested in having a look they are here
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v641/wildchild2/ToogoolawahPics/? Click on "view as slideshow" is the best way to see them or just click the first photo and it will show full size then use "next".
Karen, Have been under the weather this weekend, so haven't been in the puter much at all...have a sore tailbone, and can't sit on it very well...had a bone density test today, and a nerve test tomorrow...but I will see what I can get for pictures, once I'm up and running again...
What part of Minnesota are they from???
Cindy
Beautiful CB, wish I were there, relaxing on the beach!
Yes, we grow corn(Brentwood Sweet Corn), grapes, etc. Check out this link for more of what we grow in my town.
http://www.harvest4you.com/ Karen
Hi Cindy, Hope you are feeling better real soon. My mom grew up in a little place called Rush City. North of Minneapolis/St. Paul off of Hyway 35 (I believe that is the road)
CB, Awsome pics! You rock!
Thanks Jim and I will keep posting the way I now know how! I will just resize my pics to fit.
Hey Jim! Thanks for sharing your town with us! Looks so pretty with the surrounding mountians and puffy clouds. We only get puffy clouds once in awhile, and I love those days.
Karen
Yeah Karen, we get plenty of clouds but none of them have any rain in them. Very disappointing!
JimV,
You should look at Grand Forks now, the 2 rivers that come into the city, are causing some flooding...It has been extremely wet in this area.
Cindy
This year I have not been able to garden like I used to. I used to have a large garden with neat rows etc. This year I am "companion gardening" just to make things easier. Don't know how it will work out, but here I will share with you something I love, things that grow. This is what grows in my yard.

Karen,
Those are really nice photo's...you can send me some of those limes, to make key lime pie..! yum, yum..I could send you some rhubarb!
I will take some photo's, but will have to find out how to post them here.?
I'm about 5 hrs. away, from where your mother is from.
Here where I live is all farm land, is very flat, you can see for miles and miles...
I do have a web page, its for my horses, my friend and I raise Quarter Horse's, and we also stand a stud..
Keep posting those pictures....
Cindy
Cool pics, Christie. I grew up in Huntington, Huntington Beach was nearby ... on the north shore of Long Island, not California. LOL
Spenser23
Great pics Karen. I want those limes for limeade.
I miss having a garden sometimes.
Spenser23

This guy walks his horses in my neighborhood! Too funny, wanted to share!
Karen

There is a nursery in my town that has built some dinosaurs and we went out and looked at them today.

Another shot at the nursery
Sorry guys, they are baby oranges. They will be giant orange balls in december.
But, I would like some rubarb.....
Karen
Karen,
You sure had us northern people fooled with those green things? lol That picture of the guy walking his 2 ponies was really funny..
Most of the time, I don't have the energy to work with my yearling, that I plan on showing in Oct., and if I do work her, I am in so much pain, and fatigue the next day, that I can't do anything else..and who knows, by the time the show comes around, I might be having an off day, and my daughter who trains horses, will have to show her...
You can private message me, and I will send you the rhubarb..
Cindy
Cindy, thanks for the message. If I can help you with Photobucket just post here or you can email me. My address is in my profile.
I like taking picures of animals.
Maybe I'll upload my skateboard art to photobucket later. I should have it backed up to there anyways.
Hi guys,
I posted some new flower pics on my website if anyone would like to have a look.
Jim, those pics of the flowers are just beautiful, such wonderful colors. Mother nature, is such fantastic art..
Cindy
Jim, those flowers are absolutely gorgeous!!!
GREAT pictures!
Gail
I love the pictures with a little sentence written. Reduces eye strain and relaxing. I spent many days in my youth hanging out right about there, and south of there. Learned to surf a little north of the pier.
Thank you girls.
Clarification to above post. I didn't realize there were three pages once a saw Huntington Beach CA I was drawn right in.
I love this picture link. It would be nice to see faces too.
Sorry, I posted, then had second thoughts. So, on my third thought now...you asked for faces. This is the former me before my symptoms dramatically worsened six or seven years ago. The top photo is me with my sis. The bottom one is of me and my son moving through O'Hare airport.

I must tell you all that I've really enjoyed your pics. I'd like to share some of my new granddaughter, but I need to learn how to post here. Also, last week I got a picture of a white squirrel. Anyone ever seen one? I guess it was an albino squirrel? I saw it in Austin at the State Capitol.
Linda
I LOVE all of the new pics!! I will be posting some new ones when I get home from this "vacation" that I am on.
Karen

Karen
Spill the beans Gail,
What kind of fantastic camera did you get? I love, love, love the fireworks!
Jenno, truly amazing photos. So peaceful and serene.
Linda..what a cutie pie
Christie, I got a Canon digital Powershot S3 IS. It has a lot of options I am in the beginning of learning. I am really having fun though. The fireworks should probably be taken with a tripod, but I didn't have one, so they are not exactly still, but kinda a light show lol.

WOW, I LOVE these pictures!! What a beautiful family you have Jenno! That is going to have to be my next camera, it takes beautiful pictures. The scenery where you live is stunning! Lucky you!
Here is a picture of me and Dr. Weisman that I took when I went for the study at Cedar Sinai medical center. He is such a nice man and truely concerned about those of us with AS. As I have stated in another thread, I would encourage all of us to get involved in the studies.
Karen

PS, I have a zillion pictures of my last two weeks (trip to s. ca), so I will be posting some of them soon. I will try to not post every single one and bore you to pieces!!
Karen
On the side of the road I saw these flowers on this cactus and it looked like little pieces of sunshine coming out of the prickly plant!

Just part of the garden at the Getty museum in LA. That place is so great! I wish my camera took better pictures, the artwork is amazing inside and they let you take pictures WITHOUT flash. I will be going back there next time I am down there. It would take 3 or more days to see the whole thing. My friend and my daughter pushed me around in a wheelchair so that I could see it without getting all worn out. It was a great day!
Karen

Me and my daughter at camp. Someone brought these glasses and they look like elton john glasses to me and everyone took turns wearing them and trying to outdo each other. I just look like I got stuck in the 80's!!
Karen

Artwork from some of our campers. Many of the kids are developmentally delayed.
Karen
Jen and Karen, what fabulous pictures of you and your families, they grow up so fast. Mine are all married, so have the joy of grand children. But sometimes the noise really gets to me, when they are all here...
One of these days, I'll have to post some pictures, as soon as I get how to do the whole process...am sure it isn't hard, but some days, I don't want to take the time, or am in a fog.
But all of you, can still keep posting your great photos...Check out some of the photo's Ken has posted, they are great...
Cindy
Hey Cindy! I did not think I could figure out how to do the photo thing either, but I was given some great advice on this board on how to use photobucket. It is pretty easy and now as you can see, I cannot seem to stop myself!! Yes, the kids grow up so fast. I also have another daughter who has given me my grandaughter. Will post some pics of her next time.
Enjoy the weekend!
Karen
Karen, you are right about the Elton John sunglasses..! I think he wore them one time when he did Rocket Man...! Oh what fun he was in those early days.
So now we can call you the Rocket Momma...!lol
You look fabulous with the Dr., I wish that I could look upbeat and happy, but most days its hard to crack a smile..one day these drs. will get on top of things...just have to keep on pushing them.
I just have to take the time, and look at the photobucket, have already registered with them, but haven't gotten the pictures on there yet?
But you can post your great photos..
Cindy
I love looking at all your pictures. Maybe I will ask, well uh hint, for a camera for Christmas.
Like someone above mentioned- I love seeing faces. This is me- I am all smiles as it was our sister reunion- one is out of state and the other two, I'd not seen/ spoken to in years. It was a nice day.
Come on, be brave, post your face- you can always delete it.
I came across this little tutorial on another forum that I frequent about how to post a clickable thumbnail (as below)from Photobucket.
I thought this might be useful as posting large photos takes a long time to load for those on dial-up.
Photobucket-How To
I think I might have posted this before, but if not...this is my husband Dan and I at the Daytona 500 this year!
Kay, Jenno, Karen and her daughter- You are lovely. But Maddy's fallen Angel picture is just beautiful.
Everyone's pictures are fun to look at. I am trying to get with my daughter Alanna to post a picture. Maybe we will stand under the patio cover I built all by myself. Only 1 hammer to finger injury but some close calls with leaning 4 by 4's.

I sure do like the photos of everyone. Here is mine.
I love everyone's pix! They inspired me to finally go to Photobucket and sign up! Here's a picture of me and one of my kids. Hope this works!
Ok, those pix are HUGE that I posted! Anyone know how I resize them on Photobucket!!?? Like I wanted to see my head that big this early in the morning, sheesh!!
Lee
Ok, I think I figured out how to resize, so here goes a (hopefully) correctly sized photo of kids with my "4th child", Sully the wonder pug...
I had a chance to end my vacation time in Calistoga California. Even tho it is only 1.5 hours from my home, I have never been there. It is all about wine and relaxing there. They have the "healing waters". (natural hot springs). Gave it a shot finally. Boy am I hooked!! The natural mineral water makes the body float. Seems like "anti-gravity". I have heard of "anti-gravity floatation tubs" but never paid much attention. What I am getting at is that I felt really good after two days there! It is in no way a cure for anything, but it is very soothing to the body. They also offer, for extra pay of course, mud baths, massage, reflexology, etc, etc, etc. I only used the three pools that came with my hotel. That was relaxing enough for me. The pools look a little off color, that is just the minerals in the water.
These photos are so great-I love it. For me, I like having a photo in my head of who I am posting to. It makes it so much more special.
So Karen, Jenno, Saundra, Ken , Toby, Tadeo(artwork), Linda and Lee..thanks..and your all BEAUTIFUL!
and my gosh...I get an added bonus of doing a virtual vacation by seeing all these fabulous places. Thanks for sharing your vacations with me.
I am going jet skiing in August and camping on the beach. You all get your bathing suits on and get ready to share my vacation with me.
christie
karen...do mineral pools smell like sulphur pools do? It is salty or do they use chlorine in it like a regular pool?
Lee..I once had a pug..it was the most spastic dog I have ever had..see...got me talking about my dogs again..oops..this is not the Doggie thread

. btw you can still resize the photos on photobucket and they will automatically change on the SAA site.
Hey CB, have fun on your trip.
The pools do not smell like anything and my skin felt "marvalous" when I got out. No smell of clorine either, don't know how they do it. I saw the worker checking the ph and all that, so they do keep it balanced. I saw something while I was there that described the water and its makeup, but I cannot remember it. Brain fog? I meant to pick up a flier on it, but forgot. Brain fog? or, maybe I was too relaxed to remember??
Karen
Thanks everyone for posting your photos. I really enjoy seeing your wonderful faces, cute kids and where you live, vacation, etc.
Debbie, I can't swim so I was fascinated by the mention that the mineral waters actually make you float. Don't laugh, but do you mean that literally? Or do you mean they just make you more buoyant? I love the water, so before this AS I'd kick around in the shallow ends with one of those floating board things- can't do that now. That thing you have behind your neck while floating looks so comfy. Is that one of those things you find in the toy departments, or something special?
To size my photo from photo bucket, I just used the bottom line/code under the photo that someone above suggested. I once posted a near life sized photo of my cat on the doggie page, so thanks for the suggestion!
More photos!!!
Hi,
If you look above your photos in Photobucket you will see an "edit" button. Click on this and you will get a larger pic and above it is a "resize" button with various options. 640x480 is a good size for here, it is big enough to see but not big enough to stretch the thread. Always make sure to keep your originals as you can't go back once it's resized.
Seeing all these photos is great. I don't think I even have a good one of me, I am the one behind the camera usually.
Now come on Jim, get out your tripod or stack a bunch of books on the kitchen counter of that lovely remodeled kitchen you did awhile back.

That ought to work and just use the self timer.
Like you, I am always the one behind the lens. I had to crop the one of me and enlarge it, as it was a group shot of our sisters lunch! A couple of them might faint if I posted their photos. LOL Before we got a digital a few years ago, my husband would gripe there was no need to go pick up the developed photos, as out of 36, 30 would be of the cat and dog. LOL Now, they have their very own camera card.
Kay, the water does not literally make you float, I guess like you said, it makes you more bouyant. Also I could stand in all of the pools with my head above water. The thing behind my head is one of the "noodles" you can get at the store, then I just "let my body go" and it floated up and I layed there until I felt sufficiently "pruned" and got out and read until I felt "unpruned" and went back in etc. Real rough days!! I recommend it to anyone!!
Karen
K - The hotel and surroundings alone look peaceful and relaxing.
K - If you take two noodles you can use them as a chair float or as a raft. Just put one at bottom of derriere and the other under the arms or under the neck. Amazing how easy it is to float with those little tubes.
Hey Mary! They also sell an "attachment" for the noodles that turns it into a sort of hammock chair. I looked all over for that but could not find one up there. I will find one here at home for the next time I go. Thanks for the great idea in case I cannot find my "attachment".
Karen
My neighbours new ball of fluff!

6 weeks old. Just the cutest thing!
Jim...Is this a true Aussie? I have 2 Aussie's. I LOVE my dogs. I dont have a red one.
I don't know if they are exclusive to Australia but he is a purebred Border Collie.
Pity he won't stay that size, they are so cute when small.
I am so spoiled here in California. I took my daughter to Volleyball camp...on the beach..and took a stroll on the sand. I was thinking of all of you. I had my camera and took some shots..It is just beautiful today. I am going back later to take some photos of the US Open...the largest surfing contest in North America..along with a beach festival.
Christie

yes..in my excitement I spelled Friends wrong. Actually, the surf kept coming in and wiping it out so I had to write real fast and then take the photo.

There must have been about a dozen rescues by this lifeguard while we were there

the kids boogie boarding
Ooooooh, lucky you! The pics are great! Thanks for sharing them. Makes me wish I was still on my visit to S. CA........
Karen
ps, I have seen those lifeguards rescue down there, it is amazing. They are awsome!

Is this a case of California Dreaming I see?
Here is a pic of my hubby and grandson Gavin and me at Gavin's baptism. He is looking at me like "who is this man holding me??" as he has only seen Lou a few times, LOL!
Gail
Aaahh..shucks Gail. Gavin is a real cutie.
Gavin is a sweetheart! I really enjoy looking at all the pictures her. Thanks for sharing!!!
And I had to add this one. Little boy in Rapid City, SD. Turned out his Father in in the Army and stationed in Korea.
Oh Gail, your baby grandson is adorable, isn't it great being a grandparent!
Ken, your trip looks fantastic! Thanks for sharing the pics. the little boy/flag shot is priceless.
Karen
Here are both of my grandson's. Jacob is playing with Gavin, and Gavin is playing with mommy in high chair.
YES, being a grandma is wonderful!!!

[/IMG] tmommy.jpg[/IMG]
Ken, I love the pictures of your bike ride!!! I think I would love riding on trips like that!!
Gail
Jim, what on earth is your neighbor feeding those flowers? They look enormous!
Spenser23
WOW, those are beautiful roses! I can just about smell them all the way over here. What a heavenly smell.
Karen
Jim, didn't the neighbor mind you standing in the flower bed??? thats what it looks like..! anyway, it is a great shot of the rose, no matter how you took the photo...like Karen said, you can almost smell it from here...!
Thanks for taking the time to share with us.
Cindy
I wasn't actually standing in the garden bed
I was on the outside of the fence. The roses ARE huge, the bottom one is nearly 6 inches across.
Here's another shot I took that I didn't think was good enough until I spotted the bee and bug. I didn't even know they were there when I took the shot.
This is Gavain (10 mo old) on his first trip to the county fair!
Gramma Gail
Ohhhh, Gramma Gail, you must be so proud! He's absolutely adorable! My youngest is a rough and tumble 3 year old, and I miss this age!!! He's a doll!

I went to our local Farmers Market in my town this morning. It has become quite "the thing to do" on Sat. mornings! I live in a farming community and we have fruit stands out at all of the farms, but the new "yuppies" moving into our town really put the pressure on to have the farmers come into town once a week to sell their wares (for about triple the price by the way due to the overhead!). The yuppies won and now we have a farmers market. I still drive out to the farms most weeks, but this week a friend wanted to go check it out so off we went to spend triple what we would spend about a mile down the road!! It was fun though, ran into some friends and there was a band. They don't have bands out at the farm! Just corn or tomatoes as far as the eye can see, thats all!
Karen

Another picture from the farmers market. This Brentwood Corn is what my town is "famous" for. Yum Yum!
Spring has come to Queensland, Australia.
My garden seems to have come alive in the last week or so.
Oh,I just love spring, don't you? Halfway through next sunday, our summer officially ends and autum begins here in California, USA. Then the long, dreary no garden winter. I'll be dreaming of spring, waiting for the first bulb to poke it's head up. In the meantime I will look longingly at your garden Jim. Thanks for sharing it.
Karen
Our home, a work in progress. I had to hire some help on this as my body just won't let me do it on my own anymore. I can say that I have had a hand in it though!
Before:

After:

About half the house is done. We are doing new windows, doors, trim and siding to the house and garage. No more painting for me. Kept the base color pretty close to what it was. Little more on the tan side this time, but changed the trim to Forest Green. Next time we do the roof it will be a green too.
Wow Tadao, now I can really see what you were talking about with your piercings. I was trying to picture it when I read your other post. That is a lot on your face. I like to look at it.
Karen
Nice job on the house Ken!
Yeah Karen, I like the way I did it. Add 1 more between my eyes and you got the full picture. I open them up from time to time, but really, you have to look hard to see the holes.
Those pictures really show how different one person can look Tadao!
You haven't seen my fumanchu or bald looks yet. I could rob banks and change my look in seconds.
Well, don't start robbing banks, but you are like that guy in the movie, can't remember the name, but I think it was Mat Damen who played the guy and he was the ultimate con artist. Changed his look every time. You truely could fit into any crowd.
Karen
I like the one that shows a smile. I have to learn how to get my pictures here.
Sadly tiabird, I think I was coked up and drunk. The guy next to me however was not on drugs or drunk, just a friend of mine who never knew how bad I was doing.
This is the first time I've even looked in this section of the forums! I like the photo sharing!
I'll give you guys a look at what I see out my window - I look over the downtown area of Toronto. I took this pic because of the moon - it was absolutely huge that night! And red! That's the CN Tower on the left (tallest free-standing building in the world, until that new one in Japan is finished), so you can see the contrast between it and the size of the moon! Was absolutely beautiful that night...
____
WOW! Beautiful! Talk about "by the light of the moon"
Karen

I just went out to have a smoke and found this little guy in the bushes covered with ants. My mom and I scooped him out, and then cleaned wim up without touching him. It looks like his eye is damaged and the ants where attacking. He's in our garage now. I called him Timmy.
Soooooooooo Cute!
Awww, how sweet of you to rescue him/her. You are in morpark? Is that down south? (CA) Up here in N. ca we have a place called the lindsey museum that will take in little critters like timmy and care for them until they can be released back into the wild. I hope little timmy is well enough to fly away soon.
Karen
Yeah, Moorpark is near LA. My mom has been saving birds for a long time. She was a farm girl and only child. She taught me when I was young to never touch them. Now it's because of disease but the saying still holds. He (and it is a he, I command it!) will either be well enough tomorrow to make it on his own or he'll just give up. At least he's not being eaten alive by ants though. Come on Karma, kick in already, sheesh.
My grandaughter loves to play with the tomato hornworms from the garden. She also likes to play with my camera
Woa, I don't know why that picture came out soooo huge! I sized it and used photobucket! Sorry about that!
Karen
OK, I resized it, lets see if this is better
OK, so it somehow resized both of them. Weird. Sorry for the double post.
Karen

I took this in June 2007 of my kids (Kyra and Levi -blonde boy) after a deep sea fishing trip when we were on vacation in Port Aransas, Texas.

Todays pic.
JimV, Beautiful flower.
Stella, great fishing pics! And that pelican shot is terrific! The one of the horse drinking from the pond on the farm in Oklahoma, reminded me of my time in Okla back in the late 60's and early 70's. I had a friend who had a farm in Tuttle, OK with a small lake.
Tadao, how's the little bird doing?
Spenser23
He didn't make it Spenser. I didn't think he would. He had already given up on fighting off the ants when I found him, so I just did for him what I would want for me. To at least not be eaten alive...
Shane, I like how you set it up. The candle does look like it is "lit". Good idea to set up and check with digital. What a cool class to take. I just aim and click (as you can tell by looking at my pics.) I wish I had an eye, or a knack.
Karen
Thanks Karen. I was just grabbing stuff around the house. I think I got lucky. I just hope the black and whites turn out like the digitals.
Just back from Vegas. Had a blast. We kept passing this statue and it just cracked me up.
Shane, you have a really good eye for composition.
I can't wait to see more.
Spenser23
I've been so under the weather lately, but feeling a little better today, so decided to check in. My!! What a wonderful time I've had checking out all your photos! Thank you so much for sharing. I'll add some, too.
Last weekend, I went out with my son and his family for our annual trip to the Punkin' Patch. Oh, it was the best of beautiful days, even though the crowd was there to feast on one of the last beautiful days before the rainy season.
We took a hayride from the "store" out to the field to get our pumpkins (the two pumpkins weighed 57 lbs. together!!). Our covered, tractor-pulled hay wagon drove by the corn fields, horse pasture, llamas, filbert groves -- took about 10 full minutes to get to the pumpkin fields. It was great to ramble through the fields and find our very own. Ah! A day for the memory book!
Ah, so sweet the pumpkin patch.....
I took my preschoolers there today and it was such a beautiful day. It looked like rain this morning, but the sun came out and it was just beautiful.
Karen
The Jacarandas are blooming here in my part of the world. This is just one of many around my district.
I LOVE jacaranda trees! We had them in SoCal before we moved. They are so pretty in bloom! And when the blooms begin to go, the ground gets a pretty purple blanket, shadowed by those lacy leaves... I miss my jacaranda trees (but I'm not sorry we moved

).
ohhhh, how beautiful! Hope springs eternal. That is what I always think of when my trees are bare in the winter and I see a pic of what they will look like after a long winter......Thanks for sharing that picture.
Karen

This was taken on the worst day of our local fire at about 7:00 in the evening. That is the sun trying to set through the mixture of smoke and a slight marine layer. It was as if the coastal marine layer that came in was preventing the smoke from rising. It was drizzling ashes. I cant even imagine what it was like closer to the fires. Yikes!
That picture is beautiful and horrifying at the same time. Thanks for sharing it. Stay safe.
Karen

My attempt at black and white film development. There's a smudge or something by the cat's eye in the first pic.
Wow, there are some GREAT pictures here! I love seeing pictures of you guys, your kids, grandkids, neighbors horses, vacation spots, and photography experiments. Makes you all feel a bit more "real", ya know?
Thanks for sharing. I have a ton of pictures, but I don't know how to put 'em into this message box.

Took my grandaughter out to a "stingers, fangs and venom" program at our nature place near our house today. Had a great time and she loved holding this 5 foot long snake!
Karen
Look what I found in the garden this morning! It is unbelievable to me in November!! Talk about global warming!! My garden is usually "wintered over" by now. Maybe next week-end?

I have had these mums for a few years now and never have any of them done this "double flower" thing. Weird.....
A couple of pics from my holiday.

There is a lot more on my website.
Beautiful photos, Jim!
Spenser23
Jim I really like your home page and all the beautiful pictures! Although I will say, I would hate to run into whatever made the web on your lawn!
Great site!
Gail
Thanks everyone, much appreciated. I have had so much fun creating that website and am still learning. Gives me something to do when I can't sleep(which is often).
We still don't know what made that web but I sent the photo to a spider guy at the University and he is putting it on their spider identification website so maybe someone will recognize it.
JimV
Nice website. I would love to learn how to do this. My nephew is a computer software developer, maybe he can show me. Your town seems very rural. I thought I live in rural USA but you seem to have beat me. I know you live in Australia but I did not know you have that much open land. I love the open country. I would love to live in a place where my house was the only one you could see. I don't need to own the land just enough for my house.Good luck to you and your photography. I love to take pics also.
Finally I have got my boat fire video online.
See it here
Boat Fire Video Scroll down to the YouTube player.
Apologies for video quality. It was shot with a digital camera and it was a rather hectic time.
jackieb, Yes I do live in a rural area but it's not far from big cities or beaches. An hours drive in nearly any direction will take me to a large town or city (even the capital, Brisbane).
Here's a map showing the population density

As you can see the population is concentrated within about 100 miles of the coastline, particularly on the east (Pacific) coast.
There's a better map here
Australian Population Map Another map showing where I live.

Anything else you would like to know about Australia just ask!
I am looking for CB's photo of the haunted house, anyone seen it? maybe it "dissappeared"?
Karen
Sorry Karen, There is a snafu..and I think I need Tadaos help for the next shot. Since it is about pixels, the photo last photo needs to be blown up and I was trying to figure out how to do it, (the Whaley House tell you to go back home and enlarge your photos and look at them closely)
First. This is a snapshot of the cellphone that froze that the kids took a photo of. The photo does not do justice but what it does show is that a partial leg and bare foot appeared in the photo out of no where. I will put a photo of what it was a photo of next to it.

This one needs to be blown up so see what is outside the windows. If done so, it is like in negative form on film. In the window on the left pane, you can see an elderly man digging in a garden (he looks to have a bald head) and a women in a dress standing to the right with a bonnet on.

You can kind of see them with the photo here.
There was no one there and they are not shadow. This is an example of some of the ghosts you get there. My brother has another one of a little kids face in the peaking through the drapes. The rooms are draped off so you cannot even get into the rooms. I am waiting for him to send it to me so I can post. We also had several with white blurs or white mists. We would take consecutive photos and the next photo would be different. Boo!
Those are really interesting pics CB. I wonder why that leg is in that first pic? Its so strange..I'll bet whoever developed the film was wondering what that was too...almost looks like someone running..or part of someone I should say..almost seems like a portal maybe where the other side is breaking thru? The pic with the man gardening and the woman next to him is like looking into another dimension..thats so eerie, but pretty neat at the same time..you can really see them so clearly too thru that window. There's so much to wonder about..seems like they want to be seen and noticed sometimes...then other times its like they are totally unaware of anyone else noticing them. In that one pic I'm wondering..where is the other leg and why only one came thru? Its so interesting.
It is too bad that when the kids took a photo of the cell phone they used a flash because when they did it whitened out the leg. It was flesh colored..a real leg! A barefoot one..a women's leg no less! but the flash made it all white. The camera was frozen on that photo. When it finally reset a couple hours later that photo was gone.
Here is another photo from the same area as the kitchen but different window with the man and women in the window. You can see there is a block wall outside. No garendening area! There is no "ghost" in this photo.

When you enter the Whaley House, they tell you take pictures of anything and everything because you dont know what will show up when you get home. They have some pictures and stories up front in a book.
When you look at these..It either something weird..or we have over action imaginations. But the leg?? Lol.

Enlarged and negitaved. Do you see it in here? I can maybe adjust it, but I'm not seeing what you know is there. Please point out where to go from here or I will send my demon minions after you. They are ducky demon minions and will kill you with cuteness, but they will still get the job done.

I used Roxio to darken it so you can see the people in the window better. Tadao. I cant figure out how to enlarge it like you did.
OOOOh I see it! In the upper left section of the window that Tadao enlarged. A face; I saw it right away. cool.
Ok gang,
I have some paranormal pics from the tombstone dig and my employee's house, but I can't figure out how to post them.
Tadao, can you give me some help? I tried copying from microsoft photo editor, but I didn't have a paste option when I got back here to the board. This is a cool pic I really want you guys to see it.
thanks
Sebeth
The best way to do it is to go to
www.photobucket.com and sign up for a free account. From there you can upload them from your computer to the internet. Once that is done, you can show them here by by typing "" . Note!!!! don't use the ""'s in the last example. I put those there so that the forum didn't think I was posting an image. If you have problems, you can message me if you like.
I see it now, creeeeeeepy.
Here's a creepy picture for ya!

Scary, huh? LOL
Rob
Scary?
Naah..you look like a nice guy..and the Rottie behind you is going to bite your head off!
Naah, She's my angel - watching over me to make sure I'm ok while I sleep! I love that tapestry - I got it from the Franklin Mint or some such place... I couldn't resist a 5 foot rottie! LOL
Rob
This is what the Orange tree looked like after we had picked one "batch". I always pick a batch before a frost is predicted "just in case", but this year the frost did not get them and the ones we picked Christmas eve are sweet and juicy!
Karen
Me and my grandaughter baking Christmas cookies this year. She is not really that tall. She is only 5 years old. Standing on a stepping stool. We had such a good time baking. Great day!
Karen
My youngest (21) just got back from Ghana Africa. She gave this painting to us for Christmas (she painted it from a photo).
Karen
Last one, I promise! Myself and oldest daughter wearing the "wraps" that youngest daughter brought back for us from Ghana. They are Batik by the locals there. Very beautiful handiwork artwork. She brought back some amazing artworks from there. (also, see basket of oranges from our tree!)
Happy holidays to all and a very prosperous and wonderful 2008!
Karen
Great Photos Karen...Are those Washington Oranges? If so, will you send some to me??? Those are my favorites. I planted a mini one in a large pot last year but I only got 1 orange this year and dont know what I did wrong.
Your Granddaughter is a cutie pie. I have so many precious memories of baking with my Grandmother. She is 90 and I tell her all the time that I treasure those memories the most. BTW..I love my Kenmore mixer..anyone needing a mixer..you have to buy one of those..worth every penny!!! I cannot believe your daughter painted that picture. She is very talented. Did she inherite that from you? Wow! love the wraps. That is gift giving at its best. What a wonderful Christmas you had.
Christie
Thanks CB, she did not inherit the painting gift from me, no way. I am still drawing stick figures and not good ones at that! Although I used to paint some abstract and tolepainting type stuff, so I can handle a paint brush!
I don't know what type of oranges those are. A little tiny tree was given to us in memory of my dad after he passed in 2000. It grew biggr but it did not give an orange for a couple of years, then one or two and then, watch out, tons. So, your little tree may surprise you next year by producing a lot. With oranges, the watering has to be right or you can get the "split" in the peel while still on the tree and that will distroy the fruit. We also used the fertilizing sticks for citrus. Follow direction on box. So, if that one little orange was good, keep doing what you are doing and maybe next year or the year after.......
Karen
PS, I would send you some, but they are almost gone now. I will send you some next year before all of the others eat them up so fast. I am not kidding, we picked at least 100 and only 8 are left today. We did give them out to friends and everyone that dropped by ate one and took some home.
A couple of my latest pics.
JimV, I always love the photos of the beautiful flowers that you take...you have an eye for the right shots...just don't try to hurt yourself...
Visited your web page, it always has great photos of other things in your life..
It reminds me of the month I stayed in Australia, brings back such beautiful memories.
Thanks for sharing them.
So Peaceful! I know that you enjoy the peace that comes with those quiet moments at the beach.[
This is an inspiration! Who says a disability should keep you from doing what you love! He rocked..or rather surfed..... on his knee's! Awesome!

oh and I watched this seagull pluck this starfish out of the ocean. I have never witnessed that before!
Well, well. I'm seen more MN in here lately. Met cindy before and now ken. I also met some on another AS web site from MN. Am trying to get a meeting together sometimeeeeeeeee. Oooo, Grand Forks huh? All those spring floods from the Red River flowing north. A graduate from good ol' NDSU!! Go Bison!!
I have never used photobucket so I hope this works. This is my bichon, Melman.
Our new bull
How cute! I love brahmas! My vet's brother is raising them and showed me a picture of a new calf that they had. Just adorable. Are you going to have any calves? He would make a really handsome father.
p.s. I love the bichon, too. They are really nice dogs.
I love all the photo's on here...
The bull looks like he is in great shape...! how many cows will he have the chance to romance????
Everyone, keep posting photo's....they are wonderful..
cindyd
Thank you poodlegirl and cindyd. We just sold all our cattle and started over with pure Brahmas. So right now "Big Daddy" only has a dozen ladies to romance. He is so gentle that you can walk up and pet him.
My girls wanted to show their love and support to not only thier mom, but all of us who go through this journey of pain and hope and courage. This is their daily reminder of all that we go through. This is their show of support. I love them very much!
Karen
Hi everyone. I haven't been able to get out much with the camera lately but here's a couple of my latest.

Had the car done up with a full body kit, cheaper than buying a new one and this one is comfortable for my back so a bit reluctant to change it.

My little corner of the world. I spend a lot of time here at night when I can't sleep.
Karen...are those tats real or henna? How cool is that?
Jim..I have the same exact Plumerias in my front yard except the weather is not hot enought yet to know it. The branches are still twigs..not even a single leaf. In your part of the world, do your Plumerias lose all the leaves in fall/winter or do they bloom all year long? They are so pretty! Have you taken a branch off and rooted any yet just for fun? It is easier than I thought.
Hi Christie, I presume you are talking about the flowers that I posted. Here in Aus they are called Frangipani and yes they are starting to drop all their leaves. They get bare all through winter and start to get leaves again about September. Very messy when they drop those leaves. Thankfully that one is not quite in my yard but I do get some of the leaves.
Yeah, they are very easy to grow, just snap a branch off and poke it in the ground and away it goes.
Yes Christie, they are real. The girls did that as a show of support and understanding of all that we go through on a daily basis and also to be able to "spread the word" when people ask.
Jim, the flowers are beautiful! I am starting to get some blooms in my yard now, maybe this week-end I can post some flower pics.
Karen
my pic Let's see if this works.
Nice pic Jay.
Won't open in Firefox though.

I had to switch to that dreaded IE to see it.
yeah I usually have to do a temp allow with firefox in order to see pics or videos that friends send me.
Holey moley Karen, those are real!!

Wow, thank them for me for their commitment to raising AS awareness. I'm speechless.
I'd like to add a caveat to everyone using a photobucket account. Be sure to use the account options feature in the upper right of your photobucket page to set your account to private. Otherwise, your entire album is open to public view simply by copying and pasting the address and lopping off the end of it.
toby

Wow!!! REALLY KAREN!
HEY SAA...THESE LADIES DESERVE SOME SORT OF OFFICIAL RECOGINITION. I HOPE TO READ ABOUT THEM IN THE NEXT ISSUE OF THE SPONDYLITYS PLUS MAGAZINE.
Jim, thanks for sharing your day and pictures with us. The pictures are beautiful, and it looks like a wonderful place to visit.I know what you mean about only getting out to go to Dr. appointments. Hopefully you'll be able to visit the Gardens again soon!
Jim, I love your photos. You have a great eye for composition.
The Botanical Gardens are simply beautiful. Thanks for sharing the pictures with us.
Spenser23

Cindy Lou and Spencer, thanks for the comments.
I have finished uploading the rest of todays photos to my website if anyone wishes to have a look.
I really enjoyed just going out for the day for no particular reason but it did take it's toll. It is now 3-30am. and I am once again awake and up with aching legs and back.
Oh well, that's the price we pay for having some fun.
Picture perfect, glad you had a nice day.
Jim I love your pics! The flowers are one of my favorites! Get's me in the mood to take more pictures. Is it hard to set up a website? I am not real talented on the computer!
Gail
This is the latest of my bichon, Melman. He is the biggest clown!
Ah, Melman is sooooo cute! I love his shirt!
I get to work with certified dogs and their owners at our hospital once a week visiting patients to cheer them up. It's so rewarding and such a blessing.

And so fun!
ok...so look at the new signs posted on the way out of my housing tract. What??? I wonder if this will affect the value of our homes? lol... because they freak me out.
It would make me a bit nervous, but I always feel like I would want to know what to do. You just don't think about this stuff happening.
Aww! Melman is such a sweetheart,...thanks for sharing him with us.
Christie that sign would freak me out too! I hope that never happens near you....
We had a huge wind storm the other day and I took the kids out to the cherry orchard for some cherry picking after the storm, and the storm had knocked one of the trees right down to their level. They had a great time!
(And, I read on another post that cherries are good for AS, so I should be feeling very well these days. We have tons of cherries all over this town right now!)
Karen
PS, Christie, that sign would scare the you-know-what out of me! Did the city do that or your housing development or caltrans? No warning to you? I guess that is your warning?
Karen
The city put up 122 signs. There are other signs that indicate which direction to "escape" lol..I will have to get a picture of them too..... The lifeguards at our new business said that if I could hear the roar of a tsnuami, it was already "too late" to escape it. That made me feel real good. lololo.
I notified Chris about a while ago about your girls tats. I hope the SAA does a story on your girls.
I LOVE the pic of the kids picking cherrys.
In Cannon Beach, Oregon they have the signs all over too because of the tsunami threat along the coast. They also have a siren warning. They test it I guess once a week and its of a cow mooing. I guess it is good for people who are visiting and wouldn't know what to do or were to go.
Here's a couple of pics I took of a double rainbow last week after a rain shower.

Beautiful, Jim!!
Spenser23
So vibrant, it is truly beautiful.
AWESOME SHOTS! I ALWAYS ENJOY SEEING YOUR PICS...ESPECIALLY THE RAINBOWS!!!
Now if only if there really was a Pot of Gold at the end of a rainbow. That would be doubly nice.
Hi guys,
I managed to get out with the camera yesterday and took some pics of Somerset Dam.
This is one of the dams in our water supply chain. It is full so they are letting some of the water down into the 2nd one (Wivenhoe Dam). Wivenhoe has been between 20% and 40% for 3 years now and we have had severe water restrictions. Good rain lately in the Somerset catchment has filled Somerset and allowed the restrictions to be eased a bit.

Full set of pics here-
http://people.aapt.net.au/wildchild2/SomersetDam.html
As always Jim, simply stunning photos!
Thanks for sharing your world.
Spenser23
Jim, thanks for sharing your awesome pictures with us. Glad to know your water isn't being so restricted in your area.
