I write poetry for pain management and just dealing with everything in my life. It is very therapeutic. And it is amazing to look back what you wrote and see what kind of progress or things you were going through..

I find photography to be fun. Also writing in a diary helps to stave off depression - making a 'gratitude list' when needed - to remind yourself of all the things in your life that you CAN do & are grateful for - even if it's something as small as 'I have a family that loves me & my cat is adorable'. Also - and this isn't for everyone - but hobbies such as stamp collecting or doing crossword puzzles can be diversionary & simple. You can learn a lot about the world by collecting stamps!
Personally, for me - my hobbies are pretty simple. I'm a movie/music buff and love to watch old reruns of I love lucy and mad about you on dvd - I find they make me laugh, when there's nothing to laugh about! Book collecting is another past-time of mine - and it's cheap and easy to do. Especially with summer coming up - all those flea markets!

I too, have a vegetable garden. I love it. It is good exercise and feeds us fresh food. I expanded it this year, maybe a bit too big but I got worried about money.

I use a little garden buddy that you can sit on and roll it around. I put extra poles along the step over fence so I can use them to climb up off the ground. Mine is not the neatest, I put stuff down to limit weeds and do have trouble picking them. We even can tomato sauce. There is this kit with easy to use equipment that even with my bad hands I can hold.

Bird watching. I am slow at identifying but I sit on the porch and in the summer watch the bird bath and in the winter, watch the feeder. Cornell University has a bird counting program that I joined a couple years ago. I feel like I am helping the birds. It gets exciting and I have bought different kinds of feeders so the Gold finches visit. So pretty, bright yellow and woodpeckers with red heads. Love it.

Hi Oklahomagirl!

I've really never been an "out-doorsey" girl...I think it is because I have hurt for so long, plus I live in HOT TEXAS! And, since I was a very little girl, I have always been crafty.

I have been an avid scrapbooker for several years, and have recently started making cards and altered gifts. There is something about looking at pictures of fun and wonderful events...it brings you out of any funk, I promise!! Faithbooking is also WONDERFUL!!

I recently quit my job (4 weeks ago) due to my disability, and am pursuing social security disability. And, I have always been quite an independent gal, so I don't like not having my "own" money. So, I sell my crafts! It makes me feel more equal and it brings a smile to my face when someone things my items are worth buying.

Just a thought...I hope you find something that can bring you joy.

Many Blessings!!

Have a great day,
Anjee

Anjee, I know what scrapbooking is,...what is Faithbooking? I think it is wonderful that you do crafting and sell your things. I'll bet it does give you a good feeling!
