I can't believe it! My knees are both so painful I can't even bend them! On top of all my other joints! I fear I will wind up in a wheelchair! Please tell me this isn't AS and it will disappear! Had to vent...

Okay - it will disappear! Poof!!
Just had to! LOL!! I have never had both my knees at one time swell up. That would be bad. I feel for you, and hear your pain.

My knees flare up quite a bit (currently it's my hands). It tends to come and go...no wheelchair for me yet!
I hope you experience some relief soon.

my knees have huge lumps of xtra bone on them and even down both shins. they also show lit up on the bone scan. they were one of my first "symptoms" when i was a teen and required steroid injections into the bone in both knees. they hurt like crazy then and now. some weeks worse than others, and definitely worse in the middle of the night. (lying on my side is torture when the knees touch each other).
i do not know if it is the AS for you. it is for me.
so sorry. it hurts and i say prayers for you samson. s.

I've had long periods where I couldn't kneel at all because of shooting pains in my knees, and other times where I couldnt bend them because they felt so tight and swollen (even though they didn't look swollen) - and other times where they have been relatively OK. So yes, it could go away.... and come back.... or tone down and flare up.
Cauda equina type neurogenic bladder problems. Coeliac disease. Sicca syndrome. Ataxic gait and use crutches. Non-specific gut problems. Current treatment: Low dose naltrexone, low starch diet (Guts shredded by NSAIDs. Previously diclofenac worked well, not eligible for anti-tnfs, hypersensitivity to SSZ). Also short bursts of pred for bad flares
