There is no way to know if it did or didn't work, seymour, unless you are one of the minority with a rapid response to these drugs, in which case it is obviously working. Otherwise it's going to take at least a few weeks to really get a sense of whether the improvement is sustained - and thus related to the medicine - or just another of the seemingly random ups & downs of the disease. Whatever the cause it's good your morning stiffness is improved.

I wasn't clear.

I meant to say: How can you be 100% sure that the shot did go into your body? All seems OK with my injection technique but somehow I'm still insecure. :P

1. I remove the white plastic thing over the needle end.
2. I press the pen against my thigh.
3. I press the button, hear a click.
4. I feel a sting and a burning sensation, while I count to ten.
5. I hear another click, I remove the pen.
6. The window is now all blue.

Seems ok?

Seymour ... just re-read the instructions. There will be info there to tell you how the pen/window should look after an injection. If your pen matches that description and the medicine hasn't shot across the room and is not running down your leg there is nowhere else it could have gone but in your body. Considering you felt the sting (needle penetrating skin) and burn (medicine entering body) there is no reason for you to continue to feel so anxious about this.

I seem to feel a slight annoyance coming from you.

Aside from being maybe over-anxious, have I done anything wrong?

I have been on enbrel for 3 months now. My Dr said in my case it would be at least 10 weeks before I notice a difference. I can tell now because the day before my shot is due the swelling flares up bad! I had horrible injection site reactions when injecting into my thigh, and the pain got worse every week. I tried my stomach last week and I will never inject into my thigh again! No pain or reaction in my stomach. I thought it would be the other way around, but foe me it barely burns anymore now that I inject into the stomach. Try to be patient it fouls take weeks for it to work don't get discouraged!!

Honestly the last two weeks have been pretty good. I don't know if it's the Enbrel but I do feel less stiff and have more energy. :-)

Yeah, I am finally breaking down this week. I have had enough of the pain in my legs. The pain at the injection site has been getting worse with every injection. It kind of makes my stomach roll at the idea of sticking a needle in my tummy, but something has to give. Today is injection day, so I will post an update as to whether there was a difference or not.

Update for those interested:

My third injection did not seem to help. I felt like some of my stiffness was coming back. My fourth injection last Tuesday gave better results.

I feel less tired and I have almost no morning stiffness. Sadly, at this point my neck is still bad left and right... I can stretch to the left up to about 70 degrees and to the right about 50 degrees. But my normal ROM without stretching is about 45-40. Up is better and down no problem.

I'm still hopeful that it'll get better in the coming weeks.
