My husband is part owner of his small company. We pay $650 per month for me and the kids (he is free) for our HSA plan. Our deductible is $2000 individual and $8000 family. Our doctor visits are anywhere from $65 - $200 depending on the type of doctor seen (my rheumy visits are the $200 ones).

Once we hit the deductible, everything is free. Prescriptions and medical care are all applied to our deductible as the insurance company sees fit and not everything is approved. They are terrible about authorizing medications. They don't allow me to have Celebrex and without insurance, it costs $400 a month (so needless to say, I don't take it). They have even denied my prednisone refill, so we had to call them.

I think our family is an extreme case with the high cost of insurance. My friends don't have the high cost that we do and I am sure it has to do with the small size of my husband's company.

We are self employed and pay THRU THE NOSE! DH is in uninsured (and I am leaving it up to him to help this time with a plan bc he's a big boy).

I pay $460.00 JUST for me a month, $25 dr visits, UC, specialists...$100-200 ER I forget, $200-300 a day hosp.with e waived if admitted.

Generic co pay is $10-20....brand name I have a $300 deductible (which sucked when dd2 had to be on Prevacid every month and it would roll my deductible over and start again).

Now both my DD's r on their own plans....$204 &$139. $40 office visits, $2000 deductible, $10-20 generic meds.

I really wish my DH had a real job with benefits. I used to work in HR and const mgt and my employer paid all of my HS. He went out of business and along with it my ins (15 hrs ago)...just when all this crud with my body was coming to a head more and more....

I just realized I pay about $800 a month for HS. NICE.....
