Can standing for a period of say 2 hours on concrete floor cause rib pain? Went to a family reunion on Sunday now rib left side at waist is so sore. Thanks

Is the pain actually in the ribs, or kind of under the ribs on that side (around your waist level)? I'm just asking because that kind of pain sounds exactly like my kidney infections, which can get severe enough to feel like my ribs are sore.

Cauda equina type neurogenic bladder problems. Coeliac disease. Sicca syndrome. Ataxic gait and use crutches. Non-specific gut problems. Current treatment: Low dose naltrexone, low starch diet (Guts shredded by NSAIDs. Previously diclofenac worked well, not eligible for anti-tnfs, hypersensitivity to SSZ). Also short bursts of pred for bad flares

I have nearly constant rib pain with AS. I can easily worsen it by overdoing activity. Sitting wrong or laying wrong will cause awful muscle spasms. I don't know if it's accurate, but I attribute it to inflammation in my spine. So I suppose standing for extended periods, putting stress on the spine, could cause rib pain. My heating pad helps when this happens. Hope you are doing better.

I can't imagine standing still for anything like two hours. I can often only do about 10 minutes before I need to start moving around or my spine will go into spasm.

Marvsgirl,

I have rib pain 24/7. I would have to think that standing on concrete for so long would cause more pain. So, yes, to your question.

Be well,

Thanks for the replies. Shirley I was not standing still just walking around and visiting. If I had been standing still in about five minutes I would be down.
