I was able to get vaccinated this past week due to use of “other immune weakening medication.” (CDC mid tier, may be at higher risk for severe COVID-19)

It was Pfizer-BionTech, first dose. A little sore in my arm 12-36 hrs after the shot. Tired/fatigued still a couple of days after the shot. Anyone else experienced tiredness?

My rheumatologist advised me to not delay my biweekly Humira injection which is due today. So I will take it while my body hopefully continues to building immunity... here’s hoping.

I got my first Pfizer dose today around noon. I’ve never had any allergies to medications or reactions to vaccines before (& I volunteered in Africa so I’ve had all recommended US vaccines plus yellow fever, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, typhoid, cholera, & meningitis). I broke out in a full body red rash, tingling tongue, itchy throat, rapid pulse, and light headedness less than 5 minutes after getting the shot. They gave me high dose antihistamine and filled out a CDC reaction report while I waited for 30min to see if the rash and other symptoms would subside. The nurse told me that this reaction happens a lot more frequently in women. The rash went away 45min after the shot but I still have a tingly/itchy throat and just feel kinda weird 9hrs later. About an hour ago I noticed my arm was really sore, similar to tetanus but more intense, and a really bad headache. I’m apprehensive about the second dose to see if my reaction is worse, but I have no regrets. I do recommend anyone concerned about a reaction bring someone with to drive them home! The antihistamines knocked me out

Thank you. Very informative

46, diagnosed with AS in early 2005 and on TNF-blockers since then: They have been miracle drugs for me. On Enbrel from spring 2005 to Nov 2008. On Humira from Nov 2008 to present. Baclofen and OTC anti-inflammatories as needed.

Update from me. I had my 2nd Pfizer dose about 2.5 weeks ago. Tired within 12 hrs and then neck joint pain the following 2 days until my Humira injection. I was afraid the vaccine and Humiraantibodies were fighting each other and that the vaccine wouldn’t even work due to few or no symptoms related to the vaccine.

So I got tested for IGG antibodies against SARS-Cov-2 last weekend and that fortunately came back positive. My immune system has reacted.

So even though you doubt the vaccine even worked, it could still do its job. Just posting this for anyone else that may worry about the same thing.

I had an interesting reaction to the second Pfiizer dose.

I felt pretty normal for about 48 hours. Maybe a bit of joint pain (but could also just be my normal AS symptoms). Then, out of the blue, the spot where I got the injection started hurting really bad. Then I started feeling cold. Soon, this feeling of cold turned into shivering. Gradually the shivering turned into full blown shaking. Muscles throughout my body were just shaking out of control. I thought I was having some sort of neurological problem. It was terrifying.

I called the nurse hotline and they told me to take Tylenol. I felt like I was on the verge of vomiting due to the stress of shaking so hard. My jaw muscles were killing me as they were so tight from the shaking. I was trying to open the bottle while on the phone and the nurse could hear the pills rattling around in the bottle due to my hand shaking so hard.

I cranked up the heat and crawled into bed with several blankets on me, and just endured this tortured chills, shaking and muscle contractions. After an hour it began to subside a bit and my stomach felt a bit better. I took the tylenol and got back into bed. About 25 minutes later, I lept out of bed as I was about to puke...thankfully made it to the bathroom in time and vomited about 6-7 times.

I called the nurse back and they said not to take more tylenol. I then started feeling very warm, and a thermometer showed 100.6. I laid with ice packs on my neck and forehead for the next couple of hours until I fell asleep.

Then at 5am, I woke up to the heat on full-blast in my bedroom, drenched in sweat, with my pillow, sheets, and duvet soaking wet as well. Changed everything and fell back asleep, and in the morning, I felt back to normal... now today, there is some redness and swelling and pain around the injection site.

This whole incident, particularly the violent uncontrollable shaking and chills was utterly horrible. Its definitely going to make me wary about getting a booster for this.
