I am new to the website. Was dx with fibro 9 months ago. Was sent to a rheumy and he dx me with AS on my second visit. I am so glad to have an answer but I am struggling with the fact that this is lifelong. Started sulfasalazine 2 months ago, and started enbrel last week. I have extreme swelling all over to the point it is difficult to walk! I am also super sensative to heat of any kind. A warm shower will cause me to swell and turn red to the point I cant make a fist my hands are so swollen. Is there any hope for a normal life again? I feel like my life has been taken over by this monster called pain and inflammation. Thanks for looking!

Jamie, 29, mother or of wild 3 year old, wife of super supportive college student husband. Dx with fibro, AS, depression, anxiety.
Taking ebrel, sulfasalazine, neurontin, hydrocodone, celexa, zanaflex, buspirone, xanax

I also have fibro, I'm like you, can't take the heat.
I find that taking a cool bath, works the best for me. Don't have to stand, as for taking a shower.
It helps take the swelling down, that my body feels like.
