I live at 5500 feet and the UV is intense here. I carry the pred forte and immediately nip the iritis before it gets out of control. Up until lately, this was the worst part of my AS. I ALWAYS WEAR MY SUNGLASSES OUTSIDE. I cant stress this enough. It is very good for prevention.

yes, this is quite annoying. just before I managed to calm down the left eye the right one flared up and i ended up with bilateral Iritis.
back on steroids, but this time the are not so efficient I fear.
I ve noticed that adding NSAID can help to keep it at bay a little.

The doctors here Ophthalmologist/Rheumatologist want to put me on Sulfasalazine for this issue, before eventually considering biologic. Would that work? I am getting a little bit weary as this is the 4th time in a year I have Iritis and 1st time bilateral. My eyes are constantly inflamed!!!

In my view it's a bandaid. Remicade 5mg/kg is the treatment for AS and Uveitis. Maybe a 2nd opinion would be warranted.

Diagnosed 2001 after years of joint pain. Remicade started 2002 - 5mg/kg every 7 weeks.
Right Eye Iritis.Trabeculectomy/lens replacement 2006 > DSEK Cornea Transplant 2009.
>Ahmed Shunt 2016 >DSEK Cornea Transplant 2016.
Supra Ventricular Tachycardia. Radio Frequency Ablation 2008.
Angina and stent placement 9/2020

I agree with Whitecell. I would think steroids and NSAIDS's with your diagnosis if Eosinophilic Gastritis would suggest a different approach but I'm not a doctor. It seems your symptoms and diagnosis are recent so perhaps there is some kind of protocol that is done before moving to a biologic. I believe it is an understatement to say recurrent iridociclitis is "quite annoying". I hope they get it under control quickly.
