I thought this was the most weird thing I ever had. I definitely not complaining. has anyone lost arm hairs when you had very bad flare up?

I had 3 month of hellish flare up at the pain level 8-10. During this flare up, my family I noticed that I don't have any hairs on my arms???? I had difficult time using my hands and arms due to severe pain and inflamation this time around... However, I did not lose any hair on my legs even though the worst pain was in my SI joint, lower back and legs?

I am just wondering........ confused

Didn't lose hair on my arms, but I found that underarm hair and leg hair didn't grow as quickly. For me, that was great, because I hate shaving it!!!

Me too Merlin, I am glad not to have to shave as often.

You know, I have never related this to AS but I have lost almost all of the hair on my legs but I don't think much if any any where else.

Not on my arms, but I now have a round circular area of no hair just above my right knee that is smooth and about the size of a softball in diameter maybe...never had it before the onset of AS two years ago. Must be another "gift" from AS...just what I always wanted.. real stylish for summer too  It makes no sense to me at all.

Jonathon, it sounds very fashionable.

I must say that losing hair on my arms was a great side effect of AS. I hope it stays that way.

Now, only if I lose hair on my legs or they grow slow... Not shaving my legs would be awesome... wink

I don't have that problem, but I've never been a 'hairy' guy... I must have some Native American blood, because I have virtually no arm or chest hair, and very little on my legs. I also cannot grow a mustache/beard and I'm 40 years old! If I had any less hair I'd be all-over bald! LOL
