Hi there, I just moved to NYC and I'm looking for a good rheumatologist in NYC to see for AS.

Any suggestions?

Here's a list of some folks that are covered by my insurance. Please let me know if you've heard good or bad things about any of them. Thanks!

The Hospital for Special Surgery has a wonderful Rheumatology program and are quite familar with AS. You can call and ask which doctors are take your insurance.

I've also heard-but don't know personally that Adlersberg is good.

Anna

Actema IV once a month (with pre loading for allergic reaction), Cymbalta x1 daily, Arava 20mg daily. Diagnosed with AS in 2004, suffered undiagnosed since 1982.

I used to live in NYC, I moved about 6 years ago. I used to see Dr. Harry Fischer. He was really great...smart, friendly, a great doctor. After seeing several other doctors, he is the one who finally figured out that I have AS.

The Hospital for Special Surgery is the best. I traveled 3 hours round trip to go there when I had spinal surgery from effects of spondy. Just call their referral center and they'll help you.

Hi,
Was wondering what hospital is the best for AS related surgeries? (I am in NY) I have had AS for 40 years and instead of my spine fusing it has now disintegrated (lost 3 inches) so now I have to have surgery and I am not looking forward to it.
Thanks

I definitely would go to the hospital for special surgery. The doctor that did my surgery was Andrew Sama. The hospital is now rated #1 in US News & World Reports. I had had fusion and decompression from L3-L5. I've had no pain in that area since I had it done in 2004.
