I'm recently married (actually 5 weeks ago) and was diagnosed about 6 months ago. I'm currently taking methotrexate and Remicade infusions. I'd love to hear from someone going through this and able to have a healthy pregnancy. It's scary reading all of the information and side effects these drugs have.

Hi Jodie,

Nice to have you here on the boards....although, sorry you have been diagnosed with AS.

Have you checked out the General Message Board? Someone just posted about pregnancy and AS the other day. I know others have in the past too. If memory serves me right, most have said their AS symptoms go away during pregnancy. But I will leave it up to them to start that discussion with you since my AS came after my three kids were born.

Check out the other boards..and you might even want to post another one on that board as more people tend to read that one over this one. smile

Hi Jodie, welcome. Lucky you to have a DX already at your age. I'm 32 and still waiting and whithering in pain.

As far a pregnancy goes, I don't think you can be on ANY medication during pgy. Anything that runs through your blood stream, will got to the baby.

I had my daughter 5 years ago, but wasn't on any medication back then. I only had SI leg/hip pain then. You can take advil LOL.

I hope all the best for you....

As far as pgy information, you need to find a parenting board/forums and read up on medications. I know alot of people on anti-depressents or anti-siezure medications and have a hard time b/c they can't take those kinds of things while pg.

You'll find a ton of usefull info on parenting boards.

Good luck!!

Hi Jodie,
I hate to be the bringer of bad news but I understand that Methrotrexate and pregnancy are strictly verboten. (Methroxate user-> psoriatic arthritis) You need to seriously speak with all your doctors regarding becoming pregnant. I wish you all the luck and my prayers go out to you.

I have 3 children (I'm 33), before my last 2 pregnancies I was dealing with a lot of AS pain and I was on medication. When I found out I was pregnant (both pregnancies were a surprise) I stopped taking my medication right away. About my fourth month into each pregnancy I stopped having AS pain and symptoms. I didn't have anymore symptoms until 2 years after I had the baby. It was wonderful! It was that way with both pregnancies. My youngest is now 2 1/2 and I'm right back into full blown joint pain and having to take medication.
