Okay, for the folks at the afternoon chat today, here are, not one, but two pictures of me in my big hair phase (1972). The color photo is from a production of Much Ado About Nothing at the Oklahoma Theatre Center, and the black and white photo was from a production of Philadelphia Here I Come at Oklahoma City University.






Don't laugh too hard, some day old photographs from your youth will come back to haunt you too.

Thank you. It was an incredible journey. It was something I always wanted to do since H.S. However, back then girls didn't cross over. So I had to choose the more traditional, volleyball, basketball, tennis routine.

As most, I'm always in pain and just came to accept of life of it since the "growing pains" hit as a kid. I had learned of the team and decided to try out. Unfortunately within the same month I was diagnosed with AS and fibro. I'm one of "those" type A personalities though!

So...since I already know how my brother (who is 13 years older than me and my mom) have progressed with their RA, fibro and auto-immune hepatitis...I decided that this would be MY rebellion to the illness. I'd either make it or I wouldn't. Either way I'd be okay...it was just more pain and some of a different sort.

The season is over now. We were National Conference Champions and went to the Superbowl in San Diego. Unfortunately, we lost the WPFL title by one touch down.

It was heart wrenching in a lot of ways. Mostly because I loved it, but also know that I will never be able to do it again.

I'm not sure it was the smartest thing I've ever done. I'm proud to have pushed my way through it as somedays I didn't think I ever would. There was a lot of sweat, tears and physical/mental exhaustion. I'd do it all over again if I could...but I need a hip replacement and am starting Remicaid in two weeks.

WOW, now that's an accomplishment! And something you'll be able to tell people years from now. I've always said...It may not be good for the body, but it does wonders for the soul!

Good luck with the remicade. I too was consulting with an ortho about a hip replacement when I began remicade. That was back in '04. I was able to put the hip replacement on the back burner as the pain and the constant dislocating "just went away". My ortho re-xrayd my hip and it did not "heal" but for whatever reason, it simply does not hurt like it did back then.

There are a couple of others here with a similar story of remicade and hips. I hope you get the same results!

I was searching for a dr in Oklahoma when this thread popped up, lol. Love your pics spenser!! I had a perm in the early 80's that made my hair huge, I weighed about 85 lbs so you can imagine how it looked I hadn't looked back at that in years, lol. You were quite good looking spenser

Oh, I finally found a dr and got an appt for Dec 13th. I put it off long enough, but I think this one is good from what I hear.....
